The Return of the Food Pyramid?

Abbey here, to chat with you about a historic win for America’s nutritional state.

Last week, RFK Jr. unveiled the US Department of Health and Human Service’s new food pyramid. Friends, it is fantastic. Quite simply, he turned the pyramid on its head! At the top are lots of whole foods, high quality protein, vegetables and fruits. In the middle there are great healthy fats. As it shrinks at the bottom, we get things we don’t need as much of, such as a whole lot of grains. Don’t get me wrong, we need fiber and good stuff for our gut– but most of that should come from veggies and seeds!

You might think, yeah Abbey, I can see what the pyramid shows…but why does it matter? Because they are promoting eating whole real foods to help us get to whole real health! They are promoting foods with nutrient density, not just caloric density. Our bodies need real nourishment to function at their best, most whole level– these are foods that do that! It makes me excited about where good nutrition is headed in our country, and I hope it makes you excited too. Take a look and get to eating lots of good whole stuff.
