Dr. Swaim Asks some important questions of interest to Nampa residents - Chiropractor Nampa Dr. Swaim Asks...

What's your plan to deal with drug-resistant 'super germs'?
Chiropractors have always been concerned with the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, accelerating the mutation of microbes that make "wonder" drugs increasingly ineffective. My strategy? Do everything possible to bolster my immune system through proper diet, rest, exercise, clean air, pure water and an optimally functioning nervous system with regular chiropractic care.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Nampa chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.

Introducing Nampa Chiropractor Dr. Ken Swaim

I just wish I had known then what I know now.

Dr. Ken SwaimAfter having swam so many miles a day while in high school , I developed a slight bend in my spine that has continued to be a problem 25 years later. It wasn't until I went to chiropractic school and had an examination that I realized there was a problem. Now that I understand spinal balance and symmetry, my problem could have been corrected years ago. I wish I had known how vitally important a balanced, dynamic spine is to my total health.

I was in my late 20's when I met a man that change my life. He was a chiropractor and was playing national level racquetball in his mid fifties. I had always tried to do healthy things, like eat better foods, drink tons of water, get some rest, run, ride or swim as often as possible, and Dr. Nelson invited me to look at what he did for a living. I did not fancy going back to school for another 5.5 years, but the idea of working with my hands to enhance peoples health and well being was really appealing. So I quit my job, went back to school and opened our practice in 2002. I cannot imagine doing anything else.

I attended Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward California because they have a reputation for producing excellent doctors. I wanted to be a part of an institution that cared deeply about chiropractic principles. Life West is that. Dr. Malik Solsberg, arguably the most well read man in our profession, was very thorough in his approach to teaching the scientific validation that our profession rests on. He was very influential in my staying and finishing school.

Our practice philosophy is simple. Total health comes from within. Because the spine and brain control and coordinate EVERY THING THAT HAPPENS IN THE BODY, caring for this master system is the BASIS OF ALL HEALTH. We seek to restore balance and symmetry to you spine and your body so that it can function properly. Without this balance, injury and sickness become unwelcome visitors.

My little family is composed of my wife of 20 years, Linda, and my delightful 9 year old daughter Abbey Faye. She has a new kitty. We love to be together and ski and ice skate in the winter, and ride bikes and water slide in the summer. Having adventures of any size gets us all jazzed up. When it is late and there is no more sun to play under, we like to watch old Andy Griffith TV show episodes, or go to Flying Pie Pizza in Boise.

I get adjusted with the activator by my friend across town, Dr. Chandler, at least once a week and sometimes twice. Because I spend so much time in the swimming pool in the winter, my neck and right shoulder tend to become tight and he helps keep it in balance. I also like to ski as often as possible. In the summer I ride mountain bikes and play tennis. I enjoy being in motion and chiropractic makes that possible. I can't imagine a life without motion.

Enough about us! How can we help you? We look forward to meeting you.
